14 Days Best of Uganda - CTS04


Day1.

   Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport by Crystal Guide who will warmly welcome you and facilitate arrival and departure formalities. After a short transfer to your hotel you will be briefed about you safari. Overnight at Sheraton Hotel, Hotel Africana or Hotel International. BB

   Day2.
   Proceed to Fort Portal via Mubende. Have a stop over at Nakayima Shrine, a splendid tree known to be 400 years old, worshipped by local people and thought to be holding the spirit of an ancient king. Arrive late afternoon. Overnight. FB

   Day3.
Visit the Omukama (king) of Toro's palace, ancient building. Visit the locally worshipped hot springs and see ancient land form features and caves in For Portal. Overnight Local home or local farm. FB.

   Day4.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park, passing via the Rwenzoris, or "Mountains of The Moon" for most of the journey. A game drive en-route may be rewarded by seeing a lot of wild animals such as elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena and variety of antelope species. After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. You will see a lot of hippos and other animals may be seen drinking at water's edge. During this launch cruise you will have opportunity to take photographs, game viewing and bird watching with over 550 resident species of colourful birds for you to enjoy. Overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge. FB

   Day 5
Proceed to Kyambura gorge to track chimpanzees and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest by driving through the 'Switzerland of Africa' area known as Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads. Pass through Ishasha sector where you will have an opportunity to see the tree climbing lions or take the alternative route through the cultivated area. Overnight at Buhoma locally managed Rest Camp.    Day 6
Go for gorilla tracking walking up steeply in the dense rain forest through different animals' trails allowing access to tourists. Gorilla tracking is an inspiring and wonderful adventure which one can't miss. The Gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact. Enjoy the Buhoma Village Walk organized by the local community. Overnight at Local Buhoma locally managed Rest Camp. FB

   Day 7
  Leave for Kisoro, stopping at Kanaba Gap to view the spectacular Virunga volcanoes and stunning terraced hills. Visit the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores or continue directly to Mgahinga. Overnight at Gahinga Lodge or Traveler's rest camp. FB

   Day 8
Visit the local Batwa pygmies and see their cultures. Evening dance by the group can also be arranged. Overnight at Gahinga Lodge or Traveler's rest camp. FB

   Day 9 
Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch proceed for an exciting boat trip or an evening game drive where you will view beautiful stripped zebras, Impalas and other animals. Overnight at the community bandas or local farm. FB

   Day 10
Have another game drive and then drive to Kampala with a stop over for lunch en-route. Stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en-route where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through the generations. There will also be time to stop at the Equator for photographs. Overnight at Local home. FB

   Day 11
Proceed for Kampala City Tour. This will include the visit to the Parliament, the museum Namugongo Martyrs' Shrine where some 22 Christian converts were burnt at the stake in the 19th century, Bahai Temple which is the only one in Africa and see the cultures of Buganda and see the lifestyle of their ancient kings; see Naggalabi ancient Kings' Crown-ground, Kasubi Royal Tombs, buy art crafts. Enjoy the traditional Ugandan local foods. Overnight at local home. FB

   Day 12
Drive eastward to Jinja, via Mukono. Visit Sezzibwa Falls, the twin falls that are believed to have been "produced" by an ancient woman. You can have an opportunity to visit the traditional healers. Proceed to Jinja via the Owen Falls Dam, Uganda's largest dam. Visit the Source of the Mighty River Nile, and then a cultural tour to Bujagali Falls on the other end of the Nile. Return to Kampala late afternoon. Visit the theatre to enjoy a local play/dance (subject to availability). Overnight at Local home. FB
